Introducing the 32 Courageous, a next-generation center console fire rescue response vessel based on a globally proven Metal Shark hull design. The venerable Courageous hull – trusted by the US Coast Guard, the US Navy, and multiple fire departments from coast to coast – has now been reimagined with a next-generation arrangement fully optimized for firefighting. This all-aluminum, American-made fireboat is “right-sized” for many departments, offering big-boat features and capability in a compact, maneuverable, and transportable package. The 32 Courageous comes equipped with a boatload of premium standard features as well as a robust list of pre-engineered options allowing fire departments to tailor the vessel to suit their unique mission requirements. In any configuration, the 32 Courageous serves as an extremely stable, dependable, and versatile platform ideally suited for fireboat crews.

Hull Design, Construction, and Performance

The 32 Courageous features a proven Metal Shark hull design that has been engineered and built to precise tolerances, and proven over the delivery of 100+ parent-craft Courageous-class vessels to operators worldwide. To achieve its superior hull life rating, the vessel’s hull, deck, and superstructure are composed entirely of precision welded plates of corrosion-resistant 5086 aluminum-magnesium alloy. The 32 Courageous running surface has been designed for maximum efficiency and performance, with a wide beam and flared bow with pronounced reverse chines providing a dry and stable working platform. Designed for performance, twin 350HP outboard engines require minimum maintenance while reliably propelling the 32 Courageous to top speeds in the 45-knot range, with a cruise speed in excess of 35 knots.

Modern, Crew-Friendly Layout

Thanks to its flared bow, wide reversed chines, and 10’ 10” beam, the 32 Courageous is extraordinarily stable and dry, with a wide-open cockpit that is ideally suited for rescue missions. The nonskid floor runs flat from bow to stern with no obstructions, high freeboard offers extra security, and the vessel may be configured with four dive doors – two forward and two aft – for maximum versatility. Low-level LED lighting has been provided for night missions, and careful consideration has been given to the placement of all rails and grab handles. Crew members may safely traverse the vessel, day or night, even in adverse weather conditions. The 32 Courageous may be fitted with electric or manual davits forward and/or aft. The blunt bow may be configured with heavy duty push knees and a large, heavy-duty bow door is also available.

Center Console Versatility

The 32 Courageous features a full-height center console with three-panel glass windshield for optimum visibility. The dash and overhead electronics mounting pod combine to provide ample room for the ideal placement of engine controls, navigation electronics, fire-fighting controls, and comms equipment. The vessel’s helm has been laid out for maximum versatility: a single operator can position the vessel while operating the fire pump and monitor. Alternately, the vessel may be controlled by one crew member while a second handles the fire-fighting equipment. Multiple seating options are available including military-style shock-mitigating helm seats.

T-Top Details

The 32 Courageous is available with a standard welded aluminum T-top with drip rails, full-height three-panel tempered glass windshield, and overhead electronics pod. As shown, the vessel may also be equipped with an upgraded working top with ladder and removable rails which allows crews to work safely alongside ships or elevated structures. A full curtain package may be added to enable all-weather operation.
